The Lovely Somnolent

The call has gone out to commoner and noble alike - the King has escaped to a nearby land, his castle overrun and overgrown with the thorns and brambles of a dark undergrowth, his people set in stone.

“Save my daughter,” he entreats. “She is asleep, stricken by a foul curse.  Only by true love’s kiss will she awaken, and the blight be dispelled from the land.”

He extols her virtues, and if there are riches and wealth within those walls that you come across, then by all means, let it spur you to greater glory when you awaken the princess, earn her love, and claim a kingdom.

This is a playtest for an incursion Designed for Trophy Dark, written by Madelancholy.
Trophy Dark is a roleplaying game about a group of treasure-hunters entering a haunted forest that doesn’t want them there. This game will tell the story of their physical and mental descent as they move deeper and deeper into the dangerous forest.  This is not a hopeful story about slaying creatures and dragging back treasure to town - this is a horror story of entitled pillagers meeting tragic ends.  

CONTENT WARNING: PC Betrayal is possible in this game, as well as Body Horror, Manipulation, Temptation, Violence

No experience needed, game rules will be taught in play - be ready and willing to collaborate on the narrative throughout.  

Safety tools available are X-Card, Open Door policy, and Lines and Veils. Please know that while we will adhere to our Safety Tools, if anything in the Content Warning above will be triggering for you, this particular incursion may not be for you, and that is okay.

Game will be played on Zoom, with a Google Sheets character keeper and dedicated online dice roller available.

The session will run up to 3.5 hours, with at least two 5-10 minute breaks.

The one-shot will be recorded for facilitator improvement with consent to be requested for eventual posting on YouTube.
