      About

This is a one-shot of the 2nd Edition of my own game of Alien horror (free from https://gallusgames.itch.io). This is a mechanically light system inspired by Cthulhu Dark (by Graham Walmsley) for play in the Alien Universe.

PLEASE BE AWARE that I will be recording the session in the expectation that it will be posted to Youtube to both publicise the Open Hearth and also to consider how the system runs in the context of a Colonial Marine squad. If you're uncomfortable with that you may want to give this a miss ...

CONTENT WARNING ... This is a game in which body horror is very likely as people serve as hosts to xenomorphs and are viewed as expendable by the corporations that compete to exploit the Frontier. The system also deals with tension between player characters under pressure ... which can get nasty when things come out of the darkness ...

SAFETY TOOLS ... Given the nature of the material, therefore, we'll be careful to use the safety tools espoused by the Community: Lines & Veils; X-Card; and the Open Door. These will be explained.

THE PLAYER CHARACTERS ... are members of a Colonial Marine squad (with the option of one or two local 'consultants') assembled to hunt down four rogue marines who have deserted with classified intelligence that mustn't reach the Union of Progressive Peoples (UPP). The deserters have, though, disappeared into the chaos of a colony at risk of falling to a UPP task force.
