About
Welcome to the State Fair! Fried food. Farm animals. Carnival rides. Armpit-to-armpit humanity. A weekend here will help you forget your weekdays, but leave your dignity at the gate. Nestled within, 90 pounds of grade-A butter has been hand-sculpted into the likeness of the Butter Princess, and you have a stake in the fate of this dairy sculpture. When life hands you cheese curds, deep fry them!
Butter Princess is a "Rooted in Trophy" game based on Trophy Dark where the player characters are trying to steal a 90-pound butter sculpture from the Minnesota State Fair. Why? You have your reasons! Terrible, terrible reasons.
Concept: A horror-comedy adventure about a group of people trying to steal a butter sculpture from the Minnesota State Fair. Nothing good will come of this.
Aim: To tell the tale of hubris and desperation about terrible people doing terrible things, all in the name of butter.
Tone: Absurd and tragicomic. We're going for a Coen Brothers movie vibe.
Subject Matter: Excess, gluttony, greed, grotesque food, crowds, humiliation
System: Butter Princess is based on the rules of Trophy Dark. All rules will be taught at the table.
Technology: We will use the GM's Zoom for video chat, a shared Google Sheet as a Character Keeper, and an online dice roller.
Recording: With the enthusiastic consent of the players, we will record this session and make it available for public viewing on YouTube.
Safety Practices: Open Door, Lines & Veils, and the X-Card. We will review these tools at the start of the session. This game abides by the Open Hearth Gaming Code of Conduct.
Trophy Dark was designed by Jesse Ross and is published by Hedgemaze Press and Gauntlet Publishing. "Butter Princess" was written by Brian Sago.
